Our Staffing. Our Record.

The first issue of The Shift Report is live — a rank-and-file nurse communication space for NYP Lower Manhattan nurses. Read the full issue online for staffing updates, delegate contacts, CBA education, Weingarten Rights, Albany Watch, Nurse Next Door, Bedside Ballot, and more.

§ 01What's Inside Issue 001

  • Clinical Staffing Committee: 2027 staffing grid proposals are underway.
  • Contract Decoded: Breaks are safety — know what the CBA says.
  • Know Your Delegates: Find your unit contact and reach out early.
  • Weingarten Rights: Rep before you speak.
  • Albany Watch: NY nursing bills, staffing laws, workplace violence, mandation, retention.
  • Dear Nurse Next Door: Unsafe assignment advice from a fellow bedside nurse.
  • Bedside Ballot: Vote on the biggest issue affecting your unit.
  • Nurse of the Month: Nominate a coworker who deserves recognition.

§ 02When Should I File a Staffing Complaint?

If staffing is below the grid, breaks are missed, acuity is not reflected, support staff are missing, floating feels unsafe, or the same staffing problem keeps repeating — document it.

Use the staffing tracker to log shift-level concerns. Patterns become evidence; one-off complaints rarely do.

A rough shift is frustrating. A documented pattern is evidence.
